| things I like, The Doppelganger Effect 7! |
[April 9th|4.41pm] |
EDIT: Oops, realized the second link wasn't working... Check it out if you've got the chance!____________________________________________________________________
Where the Wild Things Are ! Dave Eggers! Wake Up! It takes very, very little to make me happy, clearly.
Talent ! Leave some feedback for him, wouldja? But this'll be strictly between us, so shhh.
Yesterday there was snow! And the day before and the day before that. This, I don't like so much. But thankfully, the sun's back out in time for a trip to the zoo, where I've been told are many babies. The animal kind, which I like better than the human kind. lol.
On another note, I've written something! No, school isn't done (actually, I managed to do total fuck-all with the strike time I had on my hands), but there's something about sunshine that gets me writing.
The Doppelganger Effect 7 ( It Started With A... )Drop me line? Pretty please?

| omg, hey let's write fanfic. And then I did. |
[July 30th|2.47pm] |

So, ever hit the point where you're five years into a fandom and you realized you've mined every available corner of ff.net for palatable fic? (Okay fine, not always palatable. This is fanfiction.net, after all.) Yeah, welcome to my world.
Unfortunately, this kind of situation leaves me with a brain full of fandom-wank and nothing to illegally partake of at work, so I wrote bit the bullet and wrote a... multi-parter. Yeah, I know. Here's hoping this goes better than Ghost Hunting for Dummies... The Doppelganger Effect
Fandom: Artemis Fowl
Warnings: The events in this story take place approximately eight years following the Time Paradox. That means that this lovely blurb is a spoiler alert, so hit the back button if this isn't your kind of thing.
Rating: PG-13, possibly mild swearing, violence.
Summary: When a stranger with Holly's face snatches the young Myles Fowl and commissions him to create a virus that could spell the end of all mankind, Artemis and company must race around the globe -- and against the clock -- in order to save the world. Again. Chapter 1 Chapter 2

[July 23rd|12.09pm] |
Inspired by Doré's creepy/gorgeous L'Enigme, this fascinating piece of apocalyptic brilliance and a rainy day. I'm in one of those moods, what can I say?

| So about that crippling phobia... |
[June 24th|10.26am] |
I've got a flight leaving in approximately 34 hours and three minutes but really, who's counting?
Okay fine, totally me. But guys: I have this insane fear of planes. The small spaces, the high altitudes, the bad food... This is a product of one extremely botched flight about 8 years ago, in which I had the privilege of flying through a storm over Southeast Asia during its infamous monsoon season. NOT FUN. As my carry-on survival kit, I have noise-blocking headphones (in lieu of covering my ears and singing LALALA at the top of my lungs), paper bags (for the nausea. Really: for the hyperventilation) and a pocket full of Ativan.
I'll be fine, right?
Anyway, I'm no longer a typesetting virgin... When it finally dawned on me that no, I don't have CS3 on my work computer, I realized that I got a little ambitious with the volunteering. But you know, giving back to the community is its own reward (?). Warms the cockles of my heart.
Also: note how they refer to me as a guy. Good times.

| [FIC] Houses // Have we really come to this? |
[May 31st|8.20am] |

In a somewhat expected twist of events, I've now taken to piggybacking off of other people's genius.
In between mad vacation bookings and complex weight-loss schemes (what part of this is relaxing, exactly?), balancing my bescherelle in one hand and my biostats text in the other, hundredacreskymanaged to cause a trickle of creative juices in the achingly arid desert that is my mind. You know, when I'm not too busy crawling under things and shying away from the mad use of character and all.
Ahem.
So, for a not-so luminous second take on one of the most intriguing stories I've happened to read, look below.

| [flashfic] Boardsong, HnG |
[June 7th|12.13pm] |
|
Very quickly rattled off to get back into the writing mojo.
sakari_kai, are your writing bones ready?
Please, please read Jeanette Winterson, World-at-Large, because I haven't had the privilege of finding her until now. She writes like a goddess. As you can see, this is a blatant wannabe of her form (or at least, so was my intent) under the guise of mere dedication. Also, Hikaru might be slightly OOC. And this sort of falls under the category in which people miss things through weird metaphors. And there's sort of no plot. But details, details.
Title: Boardsong Wordcount: 822 Fandom/Pairings: Hikaru no Go, some AkiHika Disclaimer: HnG doesn't belong to me. Summary: Hikaru, at the end of his life, on the last road back to Innoshima.

| [fic post] Ghost Hunting for Dummies, Chapter 1; Samurai Champloo |
[April 10th|1.53pm] |
Am so tired now, and posting this up so I don't obsess over the pacing and characterization and EVERY DAMN THING because, god, writing for plot and not metaphor IS HARD and I have no idea how to pace a multi-parter. WAIL.
Title: Ghost Hunting for Dummies, Chapter 1: White Stripes Rating: PG at most Summary: On ivory lines, hack ghostbusting and the significance of three. The trio follow a dead-end lead to a seaside town and end up working as exorcists for the performing troupe there.

| [fic] The Cartographers; Team 7 |
[April 4th|3.03pm] |
|
I had no intention of writing another dream-verse fic (since I completely realize it's copout-medium-ish factor...DX) and this really did start off as something different. It was way crackier and about knitting (I kid you not), but then something weird happened and the map imagery started taking over and I had no say in it whatsoever. *groan*
Notes (if you really care about this sort of thing): my team 7 dynamic is a little heavy on the NaruSasu, can't you tell? Also, credit goes to kissingchaos for inventing the term "famous heart" (for her Naruto drabbles, which are absolute must-reads) which is now synonymous (in my brain) with Sasuke. I am such a plagiarizer.
Seriously, I apologize for the suffocating angst. I tried to razor it off with some heartless scientific terms, but that just came off as pretentious. Hehe, I'm just trying to avoid the fact that I SHOULD be toting around textbooks like the new Kabbalah bracelet seeing as I have an exam next week. Here's to failure as a medium for self-improvement. Unless I get really, really lucky and the gods of genetics take pity on my poor soul.
End tangent here. Happy Easter guys!
edit: 'Famous heart' refers to a Leonard Cohen song. kissingchaos still rocks. All praise my profound noob-osity.
The Cartographers
Disclaimer: Naruto belongs to Masashi Kishimoto. Pairings/Characters: None, team 7 dynamics. Genre: semi-AU, dreamfic, angst Rating: G Summary: Space, in no way, infers distance.

| [fic] Ghost Hunting for Dummies, Samurai Champloo |
[March 30th|1.46pm] |
Um... shouldn't I be writing something Naruto seeing how Kishimoto bought my soul with 347?
Yeah. I have no excuse, except that maybe, MAYBE I'm not that easy. sadly, there are two Naruto fanfics in the works, spawned by that chapter. Except that I am.
My fandom whoreness aside, this fic is... um... plottier, I guess... marginally more light-hearted. And a multi-parter. Yay!
Ghost Hunting for Dummies
Disclaimer: I do not own Samurai Champloo. Pairings: none Genre: gen Rating: PG-ish, swearing. Summary: Heading out to a seaside town on a lead, the trio end up getting more than they bargained for when they agree to investigate hauntings for the performing troupe there.

| (fic post) The Missing Days; ShikaIno, Chouji |
[March 9th|6.41pm] |
|
Written for Vi, who unfortunately has mad dirt on me and requested porny ShikaIno for the prompt: action. I can't write ze pron for the life of me, seeing as I go so horribly OOC that it's shameful, and Naruto-verse characters have enough bad writers like me who rape them endlessly. So I opted to stay in my comfort zone and wrote it in such a way that it will effectively neuter you with the horribly excessive wangst and make you wonder "why WHY did she write it in the first place??!" To which I say, via_inertia. Go throw tomatoes at her house. I'm not even sure I LIKE this, but I just want it up and out of my system so I can move on, so here it is to my shame. On another note, has anyone else seen team 10's sexy volume 32 coverspread? Yeah. I KNOW. The Missing Days Disclaimer: Naruto is the property of Kishimoto Masashi Warnings: Spoilers for chapters 328-342 or so. Characters/Pairings: Chouji, ShikaIno Rating: R; angsty sex Summary: It takes seven days to translate grief into action.
